一班跟隨我學習奇門遁甲多年的學生，有次上堂的時候問我，「師傅，年初時跟你去拜過太歲，什麼時候要去還神好呢？」
「這問題你們差不多每年都問，」我說：「好吧，再說一次，記住了。還神最好在冬至之前，要是時間不許可，可以選擇在尾禡之前，即舊曆十二月十六日之前。」
以我對他們的認識，還是多提一句，「記得除了還太歲之外，要是向觀音菩薩借過庫的，也記得要還呀。」
「我都還了，上星期六我在xx廟一次過都做好了。」其中一位學生很招積的說。
「你說什麼？你在xx廟把觀音借庫也還了？」我有點難以相信的感覺，「xx廟有觀音借庫的嗎？」有的話，我意然不知道！
「不是啦，我在另一間廟借的庫，不過還太歲的時候順道把庫也給還了，我很有誠意的，特別去買了觀音衣帶去還的。」那位學生解釋著說，她還補充：「我年都這樣做的。」
我給她嚇得說不出話來，卻又不能不說：「哪裡借，哪裡還，不可以甲廟借、乙廟還的。不論是觀音借庫、太歲，或者曾向某廟某神許過願，願望成真後也要回到該廟還神的。你快回去借庫那間廟，把過去幾年還錯地方的，全部給還了。」
大家如果有求神祈福的，記得要在每年年尾還神。還神最好是在冬至之前，即西曆十二月二十二日之前，如果來不及，也務必要在舊曆十二月十六日之前完成。還神其實就是感恩，感謝神明的保佑和眷顧。
至於還神要準備的東西很簡單，只需到拜太歲或借庫的廟裡，向廟祝購買還神所需的香燭和衣寶，然後點上香燭，誠心的酬謝神恩，最後把衣寶化掉就可以了。如果想帶備祭品亦可，但要注意不要犯諱，例如觀音是不吃葷的，千萬不要帶三牲肉食去祭祀。另外，如果曾向神明許下承諾，譬如心願達成後會金豬全體酬謝神恩，那就必需要做到，千萬不能言而無信。
最後，再提醒一次，雖然很少人會犯文章開始時提到的那位同學所犯的錯誤，但以防萬一，多說一次，記得哪裡借、哪裡還。
